A luxury condo once owned by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in Alexandria, VA, is now on the market for $3.2 million. The 70-year-old is behind bars after being found guilty for tax and bank fraud charges. He also pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal conspiracy.

The swanky residence is in the Oronoco, a high-rise tower in Old Town. It’s where Manafort spent time during house arrest after posting a $10 million bond, until his bail was revoked after he was accused of witness tampering. In late 2017, he sent a note to all his neighbors in the building apologizing for the constant presence of the media outside the building.

But the chatter of reporters paled in comparison to an early morning raid by the government. The residence was also the target of a “no-knock” FBI raid in July 2017, where documents belonging to Manafort were seized as part of the special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller. The FBI special agent who took part in the raid described the apartment as “‘luxury,’ spanning more than 2,000 square feet, with three bedrooms, an office, and large closet spaces.”

As part of a plea deal with the government, Manafort agreed to turn over a portfolio of luxury properties in New York, including a home in the Hamptons, a brownstone in Brooklyn, a Soho loft, and an apartment in Trump Tower.

It appeared at the time that this condo had been spared from the other property seizures. However, the luxe DC-area residence was foreclosed in April 2019. It’s now owned by Federal Savings Bank, and is no longer owned by the Manaforts, according to listing agent Sue Goodhart. Manafort and his wife, Kathleen, purchased the place in January 2015 for $2.7 million, according to the Washingtonian.

The posh pad offers three beds, 2.5 baths, and 2,779 square feet of living space. With an open plan, the layout includes floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious terraces, with views of the Potomac River and Oronoco Bay.

Among other architectural features are a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances, a large quartz island, and cherry cabinets. The open living and dining area boast walls of glass and water views. The office also features cherrywood built-ins, and the master suite comes with a private terrace, custom dual-walk-in closets, and a bath with a glass-enclosed steam shower.

Convenient automation systems control the lighting, temperature, and sound. The building offers underground, two-car parking, 24-hour security, a fitness center, and a pool, and the location is close to dining and shopping.

Manafort apparently took advantage of local vendors when he was resident in the city. He was charged with money-laundering and maintaining a lavish lifestyle bankrolled with laundered money, and was said to have dropped $934,350 at an antique rug shop in Alexandria.

Manafort’s real estate has already made headlines this summer. Two of his Manhattan properties seized by the government haven’t seen much movement on the market. A 2,000-square-foot Soho loft that was seized first landed on the market in June for $3,663,000. It has since been discounted to $3,465,000. His forfeited one-bedroom condo in Trump Tower—initially offered for $3.6 million—has also dropped in price to $3.5 million.
